Note | Sarah Jane was a strong woman. She threw her husband out; and started one of the first fish restaurants in Liverpool. This enterprise grew until she had better than a dozen premises. And this during the later half of the 1900 century. She was also strict: everyone in the household went to church three times each Sunday.
She had two girls and one boy. The girls were educated at a Young Womans Seminary, as were the adopted/fostered children of her late sister, Margaret Lucas.
She had a large establishment with around a dozen young women, who worked in her business, ran a carriage.
With such quantity of wealth, it is probable that she left a will. As this will now be in the public domain, it should be possible to find among the records of the Central Library Liverpool- which will prove a valuable source of information.
Her daughters married two brothers named Pearcy.
NB Stockport seems to have moved back and forth between Lancashire and Cheshire. |
